Type II Quasars from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey
Abstract
We present Chandra and XMM-Newton observations of type II quasars selected from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey based on their optical emission line properties, at redshifts of 0.5-0.7. We have supplemented our initial sample of 8 observations (including several archival observations) with 15 additional recent and archival observations. Several objects are likely to be Compton-thick AGN on the basis of low X-ray/[OIII] flux ratios and (in some cases) flat X-ray spectra. We will also present initial results from a Suzaku observation of a Compton-thick AGN (SDSS J0842+3625). We will also discuss novel Bayesian statistical analysis techniques for marginal and non-detections of sources by multiple detectors. This work is funded by NASA grants NNG05GP14G and GO6-7092B
